Two Paducah residents are facing drug charges after a traffic stop.

On Wednesday, McCracken County deputies and Drug Division Detectives performed a traffic stop on a vehicle for alleged registration violations.

During the stop a passenger of the vehicle, 42-year-old Joshua L. Smith, was reportedly found to be in possession of methampehtamine. A search of the vehicle allegedly revealed a meth pipe.

As the investigation continued, deputies say they determined that as the traffic stop was beginning, the driver of the vehicle, 41-year-old Amanda L. Alvey, retrieved some methamphetamine that was hidden on her person and gave it to Smith to hide.

They were both arrested and lodged in the McCracken County Jail. Alvey is being charged with first degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with physical evidence, failure to notify D.O.T. of an address change, no registration plates, and no registration receipt. Smith is being charged with first degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine) second offense, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with physical evidence, and failure to notify D.O.T. of an address change.
