A traffic stop in McCracken County early Wednesday morning led to two arrests on meth charges.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department, deputies conducted a traffic stop in the 7000 block of Benton Road for suspicious activity. Deputies say they saw someone pushed from a car, almost hitting him as it drove away.

The driver, 27-year-old Christopher Burchell of Clarksville Tennessee, and his passenger, 27-year-old Sarah Franklin of Paducah, were allegedly found to be in possession of methamphetamine, multiple items of drug paraphernalia and marijuana according to deputies.

Burchell was also found to be allegedly operating his vehicle under the influence of illegal drugs and both subjects attempted to hide the evidence of their illegal activities on their person and in the vehicle.

Deputies say 23-year-old Cory Phillips of Paducah , the person who was pushed out of the car, was uninjured.

Burchell and Franklin were placed under arrest on multiple drug charges and transported to the McCracken County Jail.

No charges for Phillips were listed on the press release.
