A traffic stop ended up sending two Paducah residents to jail on drug charges.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department, deputies say a vehicle driving along John Puryear Drive just after midnight on Saturday nearly caused a traffic crash.

Deputies say they pulled the car over to then conduct a traffic stop in a gas station parking lot.

Deputies say the driver, 27-year-old Krystal White, of Paducah, had a passenger that gave a false name. Deputies eventually identified 39-year-old Michael Creech, of Paducah, who had active warrants for his arrest.  Deputies say they gave White a field sobriety test.  As she was getting out of the vehicle White allegedly tried to throw a small plastic baggie containing methamphetamine away in the parking lot.

Deputies say the sobriety tests indicated she was under the influence of intoxicants. At that time White was placed under arrest.  Further search of the vehicle revealed several baggies containing suspected meth residue.

White and Creech were both booked in to the McCracken County Regional Jail.  White was charged with failure to produce an insurance card, careless driving, first offense of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol or drugs at .08 or above, first degree possession of a controlled substance, first offence of methamphetamine, and tampering with physical evidence.

Creech was arrested for a technical violation warrant for parole violation.
