Tornado Cleanup: US 62 to Remain Closed Overnight

Following a damaging tornado that touched down Thursday morning in the area, a section of US Highway 62 will be closed overnight.

The section of Highway 62, also known as Blandville Road, is between Fisher Road (Kentucky Highway 305) and Kentucky Highway 286. 

This area is where the tornado damaged Mt. Zion Baptist Church and continued northeast, damaging homes, businesses and infrastructure. 

Several other local roads also had localized blockages from downed trees, power lines and debris. Authorities continue to urge the public to avoid these areas to allow emergency responders and residents to work in the area unimpeded.
