Three Kids Accused of Stealing Paducah School Bus
By West Kentucky Star Staff
PADUCAH, KY - Paducah Police are investigating, after three juveniles reportedly took a joyride in a Paducah Independent Schools bus.

The Paducah Police Department says an officer was dispatched to the southside Walmart at around 9 p.m. Monday, where witnesses told him a school bus that had been parked there was taken by some children.

The officer saw the bus turning onto Irvin Cobb Drive from the parking lot, and caught up to it near the intersection of Irvin Cobb Drive and Bridge Street. The officer stopped the bus on Bridge Street and walked to the bus’ door. A young boy came to the door, but said he didn’t know how to open it. Officers then forced the door open and found three juveniles on the bus.

One of the youths, age 12, reportedly admitted he had stolen the bus from 1050 Washington St. He told police he and two other boys, age 10 and 12, were watching a soccer game on Walter Jetton Boulevard and decided to play on school buses parked nearby. He said the keys were left inside one of the buses, and they decided to take the bus.

The boys were released to their parents, and the bus was returned to school officials. Police said their investigation is continuing and charges are pending.
