Three people have been arrested in connection with a recent string of vehicle thefts and thefts from unlocked vehicles in McCracken County.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Office says deputies have been investigating several thefts from unlocked vehicles going back to Nov. 10.

Deputies said the department got several 911 calls in the early Wednesday morning from residents in the Whispering Oaks Subdivision and Bethel Church Road area. One caller said he saw young males running from a neighbors vehicle and fleeing the area in a gold colored Lexus SUV. A second call was received minutes later from someone who said they saw young males in the same type of vehicle rummaging through vehicles in the Magruder Village area.

Ballard County Sheriff’s Deputies were in the area, and found a gold Lexus SUV parked on Bethel Church Road near Woodville Road with its lights off. As deputies approached, two juveniles jumped from the vehicle and fled on foot. Both were quickly apprehended.

Deputies reportedly found several stolen items in the vehicle, including credit cards, keys to several vehicles, televisions, and a handgun. Some of the items had been stolen that night while others had been reported stolen during the previous weekend. The Lexus SUV had also been reported stolen on Oct. 25.

Deputies determined that 18-year-old Kenneth Seay of Nashville, TN was also involved in the thefts. They found Seay later at a home in Elmwood Apartments. During a search of the apartment, 3 additional stolen firearms and a crossbow were located along with several other stolen items. These firearms had been reported stolen during the previous weekend. Seay was arrested, and during questioning he reportedly admitted that he and the two juveniles had been stealing from unlocked vehicles for the past three weeks.

While Seay was being interviewed, a report was taken about a pickup that had been stolen overnight on Bethel Church Road. Paducah Police located the stolen truck in Elmwood Apartments, along with the keys to the vehicle in Seay's apartment.

Both of the juveniles were charged with fleeing or evading police, receiving stolen property $10,000 or more, and receiving stolen property (firearm). Seay was charged with receiving stolen property $10,000 or more, receiving stolen property (firearm), receiving stolen property under $10,000, and theft by unlawful taking- auto.
