Julie Tennyson, the opponent of Senator Danny Carroll in the District 2-State Senate race, has spoken out on the defacing of some of his campaign signs.

Tennyson told West Kentucky Star that she does not approve of this, or any criminal activity. She said, "there are more productive things that someone can do to help me, put out a sign in your yard, knock doors and ask to put a sign in someone else's yard, knock doors and ask people to support me, make calls, or write notes."

She explained that she believes in the golden rule, found in Luke 6:31, "do unto others as you would have them do unto you". Tennyson also said, while she cannot control the behavior of others, she would ask that they follow the golden rule.

Vandalizing campaign signs in the Commonwealth of Kentucky is a criminal mischief misdemeanor, under KRS Chapter 512, and can be punishable by a fine of up to $500, and one year in jail. Depending on the value of the damaged items, the crime can actually be elevated to a felony, with much larger penalties.
