A Tennessee man was arrested on DUI and other charges Friday night, after nearly colliding with a McCracken County Sheriff's cruiser.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department reports that a deputy was traveling east on I-24 near mile marker 16 at 10:00 pm, when a vehicle approached at a high rate of speed, and nearly hit the deputy's cruiser.

The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, but the driver fled, finally stopping in Marshall County close to the 22 mile marker.

An investigation showed that the driver, 45-year-old Terance Jones, of Nashville, was intoxicated.

Jones was arrested and taken to the McCracken County Regional Jail, charged with 2nd offense operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol/drugs (aggravated circumstances), speeding 26 mph or greater over the speed limit, first degree fleeing or evading police (motor vehicle), failure to or improper signal, and reckless driving.

No injuries were reported, and the Marshall County Sheriff's Department assisted in the incident.
