A Tennessee man is facing charges after a disturbance at Kentucky Oaks Mall.

On Tuesday, the Paducah Police responded to the report of a man swinging a knife around and scaring customers at the mall. Officers say they were able to locate the man and identified him as 22-year-old Tavarus Farrow.

Officers say they were able to smell marijuana on Farrow, then searched his backpack and clothes. According to officers, as they attempted to search him, he broke free and ran through the parking lot and across Hinkleville Road. He reportedly threw his jacket down in a restaurant parking lot and was caught a short time later behind a convenience store at James Sanders Boulevard and Hinkleville Road.

After inspecting the jacket, officers say they found a glass pipe with possible methamphetamine residue inside. According to officers, they also found a used syringe in his backpack.

Farrow was arrested and lodged in the McCracken County Jail. He is being charged with first-degree possession of a controlled substance (methamphetamine), first-degree fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, second-degree disorderly conduct, tampering with physical evidence, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
