Three people were arrested Tuesday on multiple charges following a drug investigation by law enforcement.

McCracken Sheriff’s detectives got at tip that illegal drug activity was taking place at a home, and had set up surveillance. Detectives from McCracken and Marshall County followed two of the suspects to Walmart on Hinkleville Road, where they went inside. Detectives say they watched 21-year-old Alexandria McManus and 42-year-old Shane Jones as they placed items in a cart, while continuing to act suspicious. Jones left the store and went back to the vehicle, but McManus kept shopping.

Eventually, McManus came out with the cart and started unloading it, but another vehicle pulled up. Detectives believed a transaction was taking place, so they approached the vehicles, and say they immediately smelled marijuana. They also determined that the 64 items in the cart had not been purchased. The stolen items were later determined to be valued at $465.13.

Detectives say a search of the McManus vehicle revealed methamphetamine, scales with suspected meth residue, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. The second vehicle was driven by 43-year-old John Jones of Paducah, and when it was searched, detectives say they found methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.

McManus was arrested for theft by unlawful taking, while both Joneses face several drug charges. Shane Jones also faces a charge of driving on a suspended license. All three were taken to McCracken County Jail.
