Western Kentucky's war on Asian carp has intensified with the start of a partnership program between a Wickliffe fish processing center and the State of Kentucky.

Angie Yu, with Two Rivers Fisheries in Wickliffe, told West Kentucky Star that online auctions of the fish are being held twice daily from 8:00 to 9:00 am and 3:00 to 4:00 pm.

Yu said that fish can be dropped off at the processing center on Wickliffe Road in Wickliffe, and on Port Authority Road in Eddyville.

She also said that when the weather gets warmer, they will have a boat on Lake Barkley that will be available for fishermen to drop off their catches without having to leave the water.

The auctions that began after the new year are an incentive for local fishermen to harvest the carp, and helps them find buyers from around the country.

Yu said the program has a six-year goal of removing nearly 80 million pounds of the Asian carp from the waters of western Kentucky.
