The McCracken County Sheriff's Department is asking for the public's help with a current investigation of a cruel act to a puppy.

McCracken County Animal Control officers received a call Tuesday from a citizen that had discovered an approximate 6-9 month old black Lab and great dane mix puppy.

Someone had taped the puppy's snout closed along with his back legs. The puppy was successful in breaking his legs free, but was not able to remove the tape from his snout. It appears likely that someone had committed this act against the puppy and then dropped him off in the area of Rice Springs and Woodville Road.

The puppy is currently under medical care at the McCracken County Humane Society, and has been given the name “Hero”.

The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department has an open investigation at this time. They are hopeful that evidence recovered during the investigation will lead to the identification of the unknown suspect(s) responsible for this act.

Anyone with any information that may assist investigators identifying the person(s) responsible for this crime is encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Department at (270)-444-4719.
