Reports of Shawn Jackson's departure from the football program at McCracken County are incorrect.
TV Station WJCL in Savannah, Georgia, reported Friday evening that Jackson had been approved as the new Head Coach at Wayne County High School in Jesup. The station said the local school board voted on the matter earlier that evening.
Eric Chumbler, the voice of the McCracken County Mustangs on 99.5 the FAN (owned by Bristol Broadcasting Company, which also owns West Kentucky Star), confirmed that Jackson had considered the job in Georgia, but was convinced to stay at McCracken County.
Chumbler said Jackson told local players he is staying to coach the Mustangs this fall.
Prior to coming to McCracken County the spring of 2015, Jackson was offensive coordinator at Glynn Academy in Brunswick, Georgia.
