Republican Kentucky State Senator Danny Carroll of Paducah has filed for re-election to run for the office in 2018.

Carroll posted a photograph of himself on Facebook after he signed the paperwork in the Kentucky Secretary of State's office

In the post, Carroll said, "Teressa and I are very grateful for all the support the past three years!"

Senate President Pro Tem Jimmy Higdon and Senate Floor leader Damon Thayer accompanied the couple and acted as witnesses as Carroll filed the papers.

Carroll serves Kentucky Senate District 2, which includes parts of Ballard, Carlisle, McCracken and Marshall Counties. He was elected to his first term in 2014 with a 17 percent margin of victory over Democrat Jeff Parker.

No other candidates have filed to run in this district, according to the Secretary of State's website.
