As part of ongoing reconstruction of US 45/Kentucky Avenue in Paducah, a contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet plans to close South 21st Street at the US 45/Kentucky Avenue intersection on Monday and Tuesday, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1.

South 21st Street at Kentucky Avenue will be closed starting at 7:00 a.m. on Monday to allow utility work within the intersection. The one westbound lane of Kentucky Avenue is expected to remain open during this work.  However, there may be significant delays due to movement and placement of equipment.

South 21st Street is expected to reopen to traffic at this site around 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday evening, weather permitting.

All traffic on South 21st Street traffic seeking to cross US 45/Kentucky Avenue will have to detour via South 16th Street or South 24th Street.

This closure of the South 21st Street at the Kentucky Avenue intersection in Paducah is part of a larger reconstruction project along US 45-Business/Kentucky Avenue from Otis Dinning Drive at mile point 0.447 extending to Walter Jetton Boulevard at mile point 1.554, a distance of just over a mile.

As a reminder, businesses all along this work zone have access from the rear or via side streets.  While accessing some businesses along Kentucky Avenue requires diligence, business owners in this area would appreciate your continued patronage.  Signs are up indicating access points for many businesses along the work zone..

Harper Construction, LLC, is the prime contractor on this $7.7 million highway improvement project.  It has an anticipated completion date of January 15, 2016.
