Representative Steven Rudy of Paducah has been chosen by House Leadership to chair the House Appropriations and Revenue Committee for the next two years.

“It is an honor to have the confidence of my leadership to continue working to pass fiscally sound state budgets and reform our tax code in a way that grows the economy and creates jobs,” said Rep. Steven Rudy. “Our 2018 budget prioritized the necessary functions of government, like education and public safety, while fully funding all of our obligations. I look forward to continuing this record of accomplishment in the next term.”

The House A&R Committee is responsible for setting tax policy and putting together the Commonwealth’s over $22 billion biennial budget, which goes towards funding the operations of state government. Nearly half of all state expenditures go toward funding K-12 education.

Rudy has chaired the committee for the past two years, including during the 2018 session, which was his first time playing the key role in setting the Commonwealth’s budget.

The General Assembly convenes for the 2019 session on January 8.
