A road known for flooding during heavy rain and having narrow driving lanes is about to get a makeover.

The McCracken County Road Department says beginning Monday, extensive reconstruction work will begin on Maxon Road between US 60 and KY 305 - Cairo Road.

The department says through traffic between Cairo Road (305) and Harris Road will be prohibited also starting on Monday.

Through traffic between US 60 and Harris Road will be allowed for now.

Residents and drivers in the area should expect delays and may be required to choose an alternate route. Varying traffic limitations will be in place until the project is completed in the fall of 2018.
