Ponderosa Restaurant in Reidland Has Closed

A local restaurant has closed after less than a year in business.

On their voicemail message and Facebook page, the Ponderosa Steakhouse on Benton Road in Reidland announced Monday that they were closing, effective immediately.

The letter posted on social media says the location closed "due to private and personal matters concerning the restaurant owner."

The letter said they were honored to be part of the Reidland community, and closing was a difficult decision.

Franchisee/Owner Melissa Hale has operated the Draffenville Ponderosa location for years, and opened the Reidland location in September 2016.

The building previously housed the Southern Pride restaurant.
