Authorities are asking for the public's help in a hit and run investigation.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department says 17-year-old Mikayla Mitchell reported she was traveling eastbound on Benton Road approaching Valley Street when she saw an older model white Chevrolet pickup truck — which appeared to be lifted — traveling northbound approaching a stop sign at the intersection of Valley Street and Benton Road. Mitchell told police the truck disregarded the stop sign and struck her vehicle. The truck then left the scene headed west on Benton Road.  A witness who saw the collision began following the truck, but lost it in the area of Yarbro Lane.

Deputies are asking for the public’s assistance in locating the truck and identifying the driver. The truck is likely to have damage on the left driver’s side front. Anyone with information is asked to contact the McCracken County Sheriff's Department at 270-444-4719 or Crimestoppers at 270-443-TELL.
