Law enforcement officials say a Tennessee man fatally shot himself Sunday night following a police pursuit through multiple counties.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department says Massac County Sheriff's Deputies contacted them shortly after 7 p.m. about a driver fleeing on Interstate 24.

Deputies said the driver, 28-year-old Kyle Brown of Columbia, TN reached speeds of 120 miles per hour during the pursuit, then exited the interstate at exit 7. Brown struck a curb, then drove back onto I-24 on flat tires before coming to a stop against a guardrail.

When deputies approached Brown's vehicle, they discovered he had a single gunshot wound that appeared to be self-inflicted. A passenger was escorted from the vehicle as additional police responded to the area.

The eastbound lanes of Interstate 24 were closed briefly after the incident, with one lane reopening after about 15 minutes.

Deputies said their investigation is ongoing.
