The Paducah Police Department's newly promoted assistant chief, Justin Crowell, was one of 256 law enforcement officers who graduated last week from the FBI National Academy program in Quantico, Virginia.

The 276th session of the academy included men and women from 49 states, the District of Columbia, 35 countries, five military organizations and seven federal civilian organizations. It offers 10 weeks of advanced communication, leadership and fitness training for selected officers who have proven records as professionals within their agencies. On average, these officers have 21 years of law enforcement experience.

Attorney General William Pelham Barr was principal speaker at graduation ceremonies.

Assistant Chief Crowell returns to the police department to assume command of the Support Services Division. He has been with the police department since 2005.

A formal pinning ceremony will be held on Friday, June 21 for Crowell and for Sergeant Matthew Scheer, who was also recently promoted. The ceremony will be held from 4:00 - 5:30 pm in the training room at the Paducah Police Department. The department's two newest recruits will also be sworn into service. Punch and cake will be served.
