Court records show 31-year-old Teresa Tyler entered a guilty plea Friday in McCracken County Circuit Court on two counts of first-degree criminal abuse and one count of first-degree assault. The charges were filed in April, after a child in Tyler's care was brought into a local doctor's office with injuries that required hospitalization.
Formal sentencing for Tyler is set for April 12. She faces up to ten years in prison. A co-defendant in the case, 31-year-old Jennifer Smith, is set to go to trial on March 20 for the same crimes. Detectives said the victim in both cases is her 6-year-old child.
