Police say wet roads were partially to blame for a crash on I-24 Wednesday afternoon that injured a Paducah woman.

At around 1:23 pm Wednesday, McCracken County Sheriffs Deputies responded to an injury crash on I-24 eastbound at the 11.5 mile marker.

Police said 20-year-old Mackenzie N. Collier, of Paducah was driving east on I-24 just past the 11 mile marker when she began to hydroplane while traveling in the left hand lane. Collier lost control, and her vehicle spun into the median cable barrier. Her vehicle then crossed both lanes of traffic in front of a tractor trailer driven by 53-year-old Billy E. Templeton, of Flint Michigan that was traveling eastbound in the right hand lane.

Templeton told police he didn't have time to react, and hit Collier's vehicle on the passenger side, causing both vehicles to collide with the guardrail on the south side of the roadway.

Collier was taken to Baptist hospital for treatment of her injuries. Templeton and his passenger, 50-year-old Roberta Hutchinson were not injured in the crash.

Traffic on I-24 was restricted to one lane for about an hour for the investigation and clean-up of the scene.
