A Paducah woman was arrested Tuesday afternoon after police say she fired a gun near several juveniles.

According to police, two teenaged girls were fighting in the Greer Street alley between 11th and 12th streets Tuesday afternoon, when 38-year-old Chandra Stubblefield pulled a gun from her purse. Witnesses told police she brandished the gun and pointed it at them, then fired the gun between two boys. The bullet struck a tree behind the boys.

Police said Stubblefield told them the gun went off by accident, and that she did not aim it at anyone. She was arrested on a charge of first-degree wanton endangerment and booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.
