A woman faces charges after a DUI crash early Wednesday morning.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Office says deputies responded shortly after midnight to Benton Road, after a vehicle struck a utility pole.

When they arrived deputies began searching for the driver, 38-year-old Franchesica Pierce. She was later found in the area of Florida Street, and deputies suspected she was under the influence of alcohol.

The investigation revealed Pierce had been driving east on Benton Road and lost control of her vehicle, which ran off the road and broke a utility pole in half. Deputies say Pierce then got out of the car and fled.

She was taken to Baptist Health Paducah for treatment, and was cited to court on charges of DUI - 1st offense, leaving scene of an accident, 1st degree criminal mischief, possession of open alcoholic beverage in motor vehicle and failure to produce insurance card.
