An early morning dispute that turned violent has landed a Paducah woman in jail on a felony assault charge.

Shortly after 1:00 am Friday, McCracken County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to a report of a stabbing in the 4200 block of Oaks Road. According to police, 30-year-old Robert J. Lanham of Marion was taken to the emergency room with a stab wound to his chest.

Police later identified the suspect as 24-year-old Laken N. Worley. Police found Worley a short time later at her home where the incident occurred.

During questioning, Worley reportedly told detectives she was using a knife in an attempt to remove stereo speakers from the back of Lanham's vehicle, which she said she had given to him as a gift during a past relationship. Police said a struggle ensued, and Worley stabbed Lanham in the chest.

Lanham was treated for serious injuries at Baptist Health Hospital. Worley was arrested and booked into the McCracken County Regional Jail on a charge of assault.
