A Paducah teen is charged with attempted murder, after police say he fired a rifle at his girlfriend through a closed door.

Paducah Police were called to a disturbance Tuesday evening at the home of 19-year-old Jonathan S. Poole in the 700 block of North 32nd Street. Police said when officers arrived they were told that Poole had been in an argument with his father and girlfriend, and that he had threatened to kill her and then himself. Police said when Poole’s girlfriend stood up to go to the bathroom, Poole walked down the hallway and got a rifle. As the woman closed the door, she reportedly told Poole, “Don’t do this.” Police said Poole then fired one round at her through the closed door. The victim said Poole’s parents were able to restrain him while she escaped.

Poole was arrested on a charge of attempted murder and booked into McCracken County Regional Jail.
