The Paducah Sun says it has learned that the solar eclipse glasses it recently sold may not have been safe to use, and is offering a full refund to anyone who bought them.
According to a press release from the paper, the glasses contain the proper ISO certification, but the company who made them says it now has questions about that certification.
The glasses were sold as part of a $3 eclipse package at the Sun Sunday afternoon and part of Monday morning. Sales were reportedly discontinued when word was received from the manufacturer. The glasses also were distributed free as part of a promotion at Kentucky Dam Marina.
