The Paducah Independent School District has announced the last day of the school year, as well as plans for graduating seniors.
In accordance with Governor Beshear's recommendations, Paducah Public Schools will continue non-traditional instruction through the end of the school year. The last day of school for Paducah Tilghman High School and Paducah Middle School will be Friday, May 8. The last day for Clark, McNabb, and Morgan Elementary Schools will be Monday, May 11. The last day for the elementary schools will be a half day in length.
Superintendent Donald Shively said that Senate Bill 177, which approved emergency relief for schools affected by COVID-19, mandates that schools must complete 1,062 hours of instruction. The middle school and high school will meet the required number of hours on May 8. However, since elementary schools have a 30-minute recess during the school day, they will be slightly short of the required hours, and will need to complete an extra half day on May 11.
Paducah Tilghman High School will premiere a virtual PTHS Honors Night by video on Friday, May 8 at 7 pm. A virtual graduation ceremony will be shown on Friday, May 15 at 7 pm.
