A Paducah man has been charged with trafficking in methamphetamine after a search of his home on Wednesday.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department and the Marshall County Sheriff's Department conducted an investigation that led to the search warrant being issued.

Detectives searched the home and and outbuilding on Spruce Street. They say that they found crystal methamphetamine, oxycodone, marijuana, smoking pipes, a digital scale, and a loaded 9mm handgun nearby.

Deputies arrested 33-year-old Joshua Averitt, and took him to the McCracken County Regional Jail.

Averitt was charged with firearm enhanced trafficking in methamphetamine, 1st degree possession of a controlled substance-oxycodone, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana.
