Paducah police arrested a man and recovered nearly four pounds of synthetic marijuana Wednesday afternoon.

According to officers, this is the same type drug that authorities say is related to more than 70 overdoses in one day at a city park in New Haven, CT.

Drug detectives were conducting an investigation into drug trafficking by 39-year-old Cornell Ja’Shon Holland and obtained
search warrants for his home on North 13th Street, his vehicle, and his person.

During the search, they found 26 grams of suspected crack cocaine, three suspected ecstasy pills, 39 grams of marijuana, three pounds and 12 ounces of synthetic marijuana, (Spice), digital scales and approximately $800 cash. They also found a Beretta handgun on a couch inside the home.

Holland has previous felony drug and firearm convictions.

He was arrested on numerous drug related charges, as well as possession of a handgun by a convicted felon, and booked into
the McCracken County Regional Jail.
