A Paducah Man was arrested Monday night on drug and weapon charges after deputies found him passed out behind the wheel of his pick-up truck.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Department 33-year-old Michael D. Kepner of Paducah was found passed out in his truck near a wooded area on Atlanta Avenue. Deputies had been dispatched to the area due to a report of a suspicious vehicle.

After locating the truck deputies noticed what appeared to be drug paraphernalia in Kepner's lap. Kepner also appeared to be under the influence of an intoxicant.

Along with the drug paraphernalia in Kepner's lap a search of the vehicle also turned up a baggie containing a substance that allegedly field tested positive for cocaine along with a loaded Glock .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun.

Deputies then learned through a background check that Kepner was the respondent of a current Kentucky Emergency Protective Order.  Kepner was found to be in violation of that order based upon the possession of the loaded handgun as a condition of that order was that Kepner not be in possession of any firearms or ammunition.
