A Paducah man was arrested Wednesday on multiple charges after fleeing from police.

At approximately 2:00 pm, McCracken County Sheriff’s Office Drug Division detectives said they saw a car in the parking lot of a business at South 9th Street and Ohio Street. They allegedly observed the driver and his passenger drinking a large beer. The driver was later identified as 29-year-old Terrence S. Silas.

Detectives attempted to pull over the vehicle, but Silas reportedly accelerated and fled. Detectives said the pursuit continued for several minutes until Silas fled on foot in the South 12th and Adams Street area. When detectives caught up with Silas, he allegedly began fighting and resisting arrest. During the struggle, Silas reportedly defecated himself in an attempt to distract the detectives and deputies so he could get away.

After being transported to the McCracken County Sheriff’s Office, detectives say Silas again defecated himself in the interview room. He was then transported to the McCracken County Regional Jail.

Silas was charged with possession of an open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, fleeing or evading police 1st degree, operating on suspended or revoked operators license, DUI 1st offense, and resisting arrest.

Silas has numerous prior convictions for fleeing or evading police in a vehicle and on foot. He is currently on parole stemming from a 2011 conviction of burglary 1st degree in Calloway County. In that same case, Silas was charged with attempted murder and robbery 1st degree. However, those two charges were later dismissed.

The passenger of the vehicle was issued a citation for possession of open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle.
