The parent company of Sears and Kmart announced another round of store closings, but Paducah's Kmart was unaffected.
Sears Holding's latest press release said that 45 Kmarts and 18 Sears stores across the nation will close by late January 2018. The list includes four Kmarts in Kentucky, located in Henderson, Glasgow, Versailles and Frankfort.
Other Kmart stores set to close in our region include Poplar Bluff, MO, as well as stores in St. Louis and Nashville.
The company has already closed more than 350 Kmart and Sears stores in the past year.
This is on the heels of many previous rounds of closings over several years. The last Lexington Kmart closed in October 2016, and last April, the Georgetown Kmart closed.
Paducah's store is one of only a handful of Kmarts still open in Kentucky. Others are in Erlanger, Russell Springs, Grayson and Somerset.
Paducah's Sears store was closed last March after an initial announcement in December 2016.
