A national boating website has awarded the City of Paducah's Transient Boat Dock its 2017 Boaters' Choice Award.

The annual award, presented by Marinas.com, honored 152 marinas and docking facilities this year. The award is based on boaters' reviews. Each facility was required to receive at least three reviews averaging a rating of at least four out of five stars to get the award.

Parks & Recreation Department Director Mark Thompson says the distinction makes him proud, since it is determined solely by boater reviews. He said the city values the input by the boating community.

Some of the reviewers cited proximity to restaurants, shops and other facilities as reasons for their positive experiences.

Paducah's 340-foot long Transient Boat Dock is located near historic downtown Paducah.
