Paducah School of Art and Design (PSAD) is offering its Pre-College Art Program in ceramics, scriptwriting and video production and jewelry and small metals in June. Early registration is encouraged.

The program is designed for high school students and will be held between June 5-16. During this two-week studio experience, students will divide their time between the ceramics, metals, scriptwriting and video production classes. Students will take home finished works in each discipline. Enrollment is limited to 13 students per week.

The cost of the program is $375 per week and all materials are included in this fee. Students can purchase lunch from Kitchens Cafe located in the 2D and Graphic Design Building.

WEEK ONE
June 5 – 9

Scriptwriting and Video Production
9 am – noon
2D and Graphic Design Building, 905 Harrison Street
In this one-week class PSAD adjunct instructor JP Rhea, will teach students the basics of scriptwriting, video capture, editing, and audio techniques to produce a finished 3-5 minute video exploring narrative, documentary or experimental genres.

Ceramics
1 – 4 pm
Ceramics and Small Metals Building, 919 Madison Street
This one-week class is an introduction to basic techniques used in forming and glazing clay and producing finished ceramic objects.

WEEK TWO
June 12 – 16

Scriptwriting and Video Production
9 am –  noon
2D and Graphic Design Building, 905 Harrison Street
During this second week of the video production class, PSAD adjunct instructor JP Rhea, continues from week one’s class with more on video capture, editing and audio techniques to produce a finished 3-5 minute video exploring narrative, documentary or experimental genres.

Jewelry/Metals
1 – 4 pm
Ceramics and Small Metals Building

PSAD adjunct instructor Shannon Duffy teaches this introduction to basic techniques used in joining, forming and soldering to make unique wearable art.
