This truly pure Paducah project is being orchestrated by Juliette Grumley. She took the lead on the larger than life task after seeing a similar book, "L is for Louisville". She knew it was a natural for our community where art is front and center. A hand-picked group of die-hard Paducah cheerleaders and historians became the selection committee and then local professional editors joined in to make this a real piece of Paducah pride. Zebra Graphics published the children book and here we are, ready for the public to see and own-all to support Paducah's tremendous Symphony Orchestra.
“The book and the original art will debut at the PSO’s concert on November 3,” said Grumley. “The artwork will be displayed in the Carson Center lobby and offered in a silent auction that night. The auction will conclude at the end of intermission with winning bidders announced after the concert.” Art not sold the night of the concert will be on exhibit at the PSO office and available for purchase.
Being sold for $20 each, and only 2000 books printed, organizers anticipate book sales will be fast and furious. The pre-holiday release time will also be perfect for gift-giving. After Saturday's PSO concert, the book can be purchased at the Symphony office, 201 Broadway or BBQ & More, Choate’s Gifts, Hank Brothers Hardware on Lone Oak Road and on the South Side, Roof Brothers, Simply B, The Learning Railroad, Wagner Wine and Spirits, and the Yeiser Art Center's Gift Shop.
“We think this is a wonderful way to celebrate all the special things about our community and to raise much-needed funds for the Paducah Symphony Orchestra’s education and outreach projects,” Grumley commented. “And what a perfect gift this will be for children (of every age) everywhere to enjoy and to learn about our part of the world.”
