Laura Oswald, Director of Marketing at the Paducah Convention & Visitors Bureau, has completed the Global Sustainable Tourism Council Sustainable Tourism Training Program, earning the GSTC Certificate in Sustainable Tourism.

The GSTC is the global expert in sustainable tourism standards, and the training program is a critical part of the organization’s mission of increasing knowledge of these standards among tourism industry stakeholders. The four-week facilitated online course covers global trends and best practices for tourism-related businesses and destinations.

“As a UNESCO Creative City, Paducah is positioned to benefit from the growing global tourism market while also focused on ensuring the sustainability of our community long-term,” said Oswald. “Through this training with international peers, I gained a deep understanding of sustainability challenges we all face as part of the travel industry and the actions we can take to ensure positive economic, social and cultural impacts from tourism for many years to come.”

The Paducah Convention & Visitors Bureau is the official destination marketing organization of Paducah and McCracken County. The CVB exists to create new economic opportunities through destination marketing, management and tourism development.
