Beginning Thursday, Oct. 10, a contractor working for the City of Paducah will begin a project to abandon an old storm sewer pipe in Noble Park. The work should take two to three days, weather-permitting.

The 24-inch storm sewer pipe stretches from the parking lot of the Robert Cherry Civic Center toward Lake Gerry Montgomery. The pipe has failed in several places causing an uneven ground surface.

Orange cones have been placed in many of the areas where the pipe has failed. The work will improve park safety since the pipe will be excavated and back filled to prevent future collapse features and to smooth the park surface.

The park entrances and roadways will remain open during the project. However, please use caution, and watch for the work crews and equipment.
