Paducah Public Schools will not have classes on Wednesday, January 3, due to problems with heat in several buildings.

In a social media post Tuesday afternoon, the school system said students will be dismissed from classes, but faculty and staff should report as usual.

The announcement reads, "multiple heating units in multiple buildings are not working. With the extreme cold, portions of all buildings except Paducah Middle are unheated."

The needed parts have reportedly been ordered, and the units will be fixed as soon as possible.

School is expected to be in session on Thursday, but parents and students should watch the Paducah Public Schools website and Facebook and Twitter accounts for updates.

Tuesday evening, McCracken County Schools notified parents and those following their social media accounts that classes will be held on Wednesday.
