Paducah Economic Development President Chad Chancellor told the Paducah Sun that a customer service call center is examining the area’s workforce with a blind survey. The survey, which you can take by following the link below, will assist company executives in deciding if they want to move to Paducah, Chancellor said.
The name of the company is not being revealed, but Chancellor said that PED is in the process of working out the details.
The Commerce Center is located at Fourth Street and Kentucky Avenue, which is also home to the PED, Paducah Area Chamber of Commerce and EntrePaducah. These groups are getting ready to relocate to the Paducah Freight House, located at 300 S. Third St.
A&K Construction purchased the Third Street building in July and renovations are planned. The groups that currently occupy the area are expected to move out in January or February, but Chancellor said that if the new company chooses to move to the Commerce Center earlier, that could possibly be accommodated.
The online survey asks questions such as where potential workers live, distance traveled to work, salary requirements and job related skills. The company will analyze the survey results and decide if they will come to Paducah by mid-October, Chancellor said.
Chancellor asks local residents in need of employment to go online and complete the survey. He said that the company is looking for candidates with computer skills, neutral accents and good people skills to answer customer service calls. The positions will include benefits and health insurance. A college degree is not listed as a requirement.
