Rushing told West Kentucky Star that they received notification of a tornado warning at 9:10 am and they immediately implemented their evacuation plan, which moved all children and workers into the safe room.
Ten minutes later at 9:20, the tornado hit. She said they felt the building decompress and then could hear loud noises and glass breaking.
She said the children became frightened when the power went off, but the workers helped them stay calm by singing and allowing them to play.
After making sure the storm had passed, they came out of the room to find the nursery collapsed and the sanctuary destroyed.
Rushing gives credit to the Lord for keeping everyone safe during this very dangerous time.
