A man was injured Friday evening when his motorcycle was struck from behind at an intersection.

The McCracken County Sheriff's Department says the accident happened at 5:20 pm, and they responded to the intersection of Husband Road and Lydon Road. Investigation at the scene determined that 61-year-old Michael Parkhill of Paducah was waiting to turn at the stop sign on Lydon Road, but moved forward slightly on his motorcycle. The driver of a car behind him, 28-year-old Johnna Tharp of Paducah, also moved forward and struck the rear of the bike. Tharp told deputies she became blinded by the sun and could no longer see the motorcycle.

Parkhill was taken to a local hospital by Mercy EMS, where he was treated for injuries he received.

Handley's Towing and Reidland-Farley Fire Department helped at the scene.
