Mercy Hosts Prenatal Classes for Expecting Parents

Mercy Health–Lourdes Birthing Center offers free prenatal classes to prepare expecting parents for their new arrivals. The classes provide attendees current and relevant information on childbirth and breastfeeding.
  
Mercy Health’s childbirth classes take place monthly from 9 am until 4:30 pm on the following Saturdays in the Garden Room at Mercy Health – Lourdes Hospital: Jan. 11, Feb. 8, March 7, April 18, May 23, June 13, July 18, Aug. 22, Sept. 12, Oct. 10, Nov. 14 and Dec. 5. The classes include what to expect during labor, vaginal birth, cesarean birth and postpartum recovery. Attendees will also learn how to prepare for labor and delivery, breathing techniques, pain management options and the basics of infant care.

The Mercy Health – Lourdes Birthing Center will also offer monthly breastfeeding classes in 2020 on the following dates: Jan. 20, Feb.17, March 16, April 20, May 18, June 15, July 20, Aug. 17, Sept. 21, Oct. 19, Nov. 16, and Dec. 21. Breastfeeding class is a single-evening course with all offerings taking place from 6 to 8 pm in the Borders Community Room on the first floor of the Marshall Nemer Medical Office Building. The class teaches the latest breastfeeding techniques, positioning, the anatomy and physiology of lactation and how to safely store and pump milk. All classes are taught by a certified lactation consultant.

Both the childbirth and breastfeeding classes include a tour of the Mercy Health – Lourdes Birthing Center. For more information or to RSVP for a class, call 270-444-2243.
