The McCracken County Sheriff’s Department charged a 17-year-old juvenile from Melber with being involved in several thefts.

On Monday, detectives began investigating the theft of a Chevrolet Silverado truck from the Lone Oak area. A second report was taken of credit cards being stolen from two unlocked vehicles in the same area as the stolen truck.

On Tuesday, detectives located a 17-year-old juvenile in the area of Old Mayfield and Elmdale Road, and were able to recover the stolen truck along with two firearms that had been reported as stolen a few hours earlier. Also, additional unreported stolen property was recovered. When the owners were notified, they confirmed the property had been stolen from their unlocked vehicle.

Along with being in possession of stolen property, the juvenile was also found to be in possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

The juvenile was charged with multiple counts of theft, along with drug possession. The investigation is continuing and more charges are likely.
