Fit Lit Walking Book Club: In Country by Bobbie Ann Mason
Thursday, Oct. 11, noon - 1:00 pm
A walking book club combines a fun and informal small group book discussion along with some healthy exercise.
This library staff-led talk will lead readers on a scenic walk around downtown, while we discuss western Kentucky native and PEN/Hemingway Award winning author Bobbie Ann Mason's novel In Country.

Free Flu Shot Clinic

Vaccinations will be provided by Mercy Health nurses. No insurance is required. Minors will need to be accompanied by their parent or guardian to receive immunizations.

Frankenstein 200th Anniversary Book Talk
Monday, Oct 15, 7:00 - 8:00 pm The discussion is open to everyone, from students through adults. Information about the Carson Center's productions of Frankenstein will also be available at the discussion, as well as a chance to win some free tickets to the US Bank Family Series performance on October 21 at 6 pm. Copies of the book, both physical and digital, are available to check out from the McCracken County Public Library

"In Country" Movie Screening and Book Discussion at Maiden Alley Cinema

Doors open at 5 pm.
The mobile traveling exhibit "The Wall that Heals," a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial, is coming to Paducah's Carson Park from October 25-28.

Prepare for this special event by attending a free public screening of the movie based on western Kentucky native and PEN/Hemingway Award winning author Bobbie Ann Mason's novel "In Country." Honored guests include Robert Worden, Service Officer DAV; Dr. Gordon Williams, Clinical Psychologist & movie’s technical advisor; and the novel’s author, Bobbie Ann Mason.

Feeding Nightmares with storyteller Mary Hamilton

Dread, deception, death and dismemberment are the ingredients of Kentucky tales that have fed nightmares for generations.
Acclaimed storyteller Mary Hamilton will share sample stories and reveal who told them, who collected them and why she added them to her repertoire and published them in her book, Kentucky Folktales: Revealing Stories, Truths, and Outright Lies. Co-sponsored by Kentucky Humanities.
