There will be a stepped up police presence at all McCracken County schools starting today.

McCracken County Sheriff Jon Hayden says there have been no threats of any kind made toward any area school. He says the increased law enforcement presence will help the children, faculty, and staff feel safe and secure in light of recent events.

Hayden said uniformed deputy sheriffs will assist school resource officers at the schools.

The increased police presence comes on the heels of Wednesday's school shooting in Florida that claimed the lives of 17 people.
