Police are looking for a Paducah man charged with felony wanton endangerment, after they say he fired a handgun during an incident on Saturday.

At around 4:00 pm Saturday, McCracken County Sheriff's deputies got a call from a home in the 200 block of Highland Church Road. The caller reported that an 8-year-old child from the neighborhood had just knocked on their door and said that he and his brother had just been shot at.

When deputies arrived at the home, they learned that a man identified as 40-year-old Jeffrey Collier had pulled up to the home demanding to know if his estranged girlfriend was there. Police said he told the woman there that he would shoot her and her children if he found out that they were hiding his girlfriend from him. He reportedly pulled out a handgun and fired at least five shots. He then fled from the area driving a maroon 1994 Chevrolet Blazer.

Sheriff's deputies said they recovered at least one shell casing from the driveway.

Police said Collier lives on North 10th Street in Paducah, and he reportedly returned there shortly after the incident. A search warrant was served at his home Sunday morning, and police found a semi automatic handgun, as well as Collier's SUV. At least one shell casing was also reportedly found in his vehicle.

Police said they believe the pistol they recovered to be the one used in the shooting.

Collier was not found during the search of his home. According to police, Collier has an extensive criminal record, and should be considered armed and dangerous. He may be in a red passenger car.

Anyone who knows where he might be is being asked to contact law enforcement.
