With snow and ice season coming up, the McCracken County Fiscal Court heard Monday night from County Road Engineer Randy Williams that he is reviewing the county's snow routes, road salt has been ordered and three new spreaders are expected any day.

"I've got 800 tons ordered, and we have the option of getting up to 1000 tons, more than that if it's available." Williams said.

Williams also said a lot of work has gone into getting ready for Saturday's Fiscal Court surplus auction on Oct. 17, which has an unusual item - a space capsule. It was given to the road department several years ago, and was once used by the Civil Air Patrol as decoration. Williams said he doesn't know if the capsule ever saw outer space, but it will be up for bid on the auction block.

In addition to routine business, several personnel items were addressed.

The Fiscal Court entered into a contract with Jackson Purchase Energy Corporation for the relocation of their facilities located on private property along the Maxon Road Improvement Project beginning at U.S. 60 and extending to Kentucky 305.

The county agrees to reimburse JPEC for the total actual costs associated with the power line construction, which is estimated at $114,185, which is a preliminary estimate.
