A two-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon in McCracken County sent five people to the hospital.

According to the McCracken County Sheriff's Office, the collision happened around 2pm at the intersection of US Hwy 45 and Hwy 1241. Deputies said a car driven by 25-year-old Christopher Moore of Paducah, was westbound on old US Hwy 45. When he came to the intersection of new US Hwy 45, he tried to cross the highway but failed to yield the right of way to a southbound car driven by 49-year-old Theresa Perkins of Mayfield.

Deputies said Perkins couldn't avoid a collision and struck the passenger side of Moore's car. Perkins, Moore and his three passengers, 25-year-old Robin Moxey, 9-year-old Jaelel Morris and 5-year-old Kevon Moxey, all of Paducah, were all taken to local hospitals for treatment of their injuries.

Both southbound lanes of US Hwy 45 were shut down for approximately 45 minutes for investigation and clean-up of the scene.
